Our “Why”
As Asian Americans, we are considered ‘the quiet ones.’ When negative media and hate crimes against Asians escalated during the pandemic, we felt it was time to be hears. This initiative was launched in May 2020 in honor of Asian Pacifica American Heritage Month, and our powerful voices continue to be loud and strong to take control of our own narrative and combat racism by telling personal stories of our heritage and accomplishments, challenges, grit, inspiration, and culture.
We believe that change begins with youth and that the way in is through storytelling. Stories move hearts and change minds. By achieving a larger volume of stories, we can attain narrative plenitude to educate and increase empathy, uniting Asian Americans and other minority groups in moving towards sustained action and change.
