Know the Activist - Renee Tajima-Peña
Renee Tajima-Peña (@rtajimapena), documentary filmmaker and professor, is an activist making noise for Asian American rights. She recently produced the five-part film series “Asian Americans” on PBS which delivers a bold new perspective on history that’s much needed now.
You might already be familiar with her Oscar-nominated documentary “Who Killed Vincent Chin” (1987), which continues to be relevant when it comes to Asian American history.
In a recent interview with WBEZ91.5, she said “The Vincent Chin case and the scapegoating of Muslims and South Asians after 9/11 are so present today because of the scapegoating of Asian Americans over the coronavirus. So that history matters — the history is really urgent.” Look her up, know her work, and be inspired to #MakeNoiseToday.
